![]() Itinerary: 2:00 pm - Wakey wakey! 3:30 - Stroll down to SOHO for a nice brunch.
Randy met Wayne at Trade Saturday night. He turned out to be a most excellent tour guide! (He manages a club in South London and knew where all the best places were). 4:30 - Poke about in the SOHO shops. Randy got blinky pants at CyberDog.
Off to Leicester Square, where most of the clubs were located. We started out at Home, a trendy new club with a slick interior. 5:30 pm - Stop by Sundays @ Home, a new dance club with 7 floors, 5 bars, and 3 dance floors. The decor is meticulously crafted to be trendy and slick, without being too pretentious. The atmosphere is quieter on the lower floors and ratchets up as one progresses upwards. 7:00 pm - Stop by Gay Tea Dance @ Limelight, a converted church. Before making our way out to the dance floor we sipped champagne in posh comfort in a side bar room, beautifully appointed with Tudor style furniture and elegant decor. The main dance floor was under the upper dome with standing/seating room along the upper clerestory, the DJ booth was behind the main altar, and the 2nd dance floor was in the crypt. Sacrilege! It was fabulous, sweetie darling!
Limelight. The throbbing lights of Limelight don't exactly lend themselves to photographic representation... you'll just have to imagine the paintings of saints and Virgin Maries on the aging walls.
Limelight. This wall had pictures of some of the sculptures from the original church. |
8:30 pm - Pop over to Salvation @ Café de Paris. Salvation is a once a month event that takes over for one evening what is normally a posh French restaurant. Boys galore pack the dance area while people lounge about in plush chairs at tables still decked out in the restaurant's fine linen. The Muscle Maries (as they're called in Britain) weren't full of attitude like their counterparts in the states.
Salvation. Lots and lots of very hunky boys... and very little attitude. Smiling at a cute boy would usually get you a big smile in return. Mmmm.
Salvation. Randy and Wayne needed a bit of rest in between dancing at Salvation. The music was great!
Salvation. Peter was a cute boy that Matt spent some quality face-sucking time with. Unfortunately he proved a bit of a flake when he mysteriously and abruptly bailed en route to the next club. Lots more where that came from! 11:30 pm - Quick pit stop at the hotel and then we're off to Fresca @ The End, a club built in a converted underground railway station. Hard and fast music and a very friendly crowd to top off a gloriously energetic evening! |
